Chief of Police

All personnel in the Dothan Police Department report through the chain of command to the Chief of Police, Steven L. Parrish. The chief directly supervises all captains and the police accountant. The Office of the Chief of Police can be reached at 334-615-3601.

Investigative Services Bureau 

This bureau handles all criminal investigations and is divided into units that focus on certain areas of crime. The bureau also handles the FBI Task Force, professional standards division, polygraph operations, technical services unit and crime scene unit. The bureau is commanded by Captain William Benny.

  • Juvenile (All crimes involving juveniles)
  • Vice (Narcotics, gambling, prostitution)
  • Violent Crimes (Serious assaults, murder, rape)

Administrative Services Bureau

This bureau includes the city jail, animal services, records, ordinance compliance and electronics maintenance unit. The bureau is commanded by Captain Stacy Robinson.

Special Operations Bureau

Special Operations includes the Community Service Division, which operates various community outreach programs, the school resource officer program and crime prevention. In addition, the communications center, special response team, police K9 unit, training division, quartermaster and fleet divisions report to Captain Carlton Ott.

Patrol Services Bureau

This bureau is concerned with patrol operations, crash investigations and traffic enforcement. Patrol is the largest division in the department and is often referred to as the backbone of the department. The bureau is commanded by Captain Todd David and includes the Patrol Division, Traffic Division, Community Impact Team, and School Crossing Guards.
