Commissioner Janasky Fleming
Janasky L. Fleming was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama to the late Phyllis Fleming. He is a 1990 graduate of Dothan High School. While participating as a student-athlete (football 1992 and 1993 seasons) he graduated from then Troy State University with a degree in Secondary Education-Social Science Comprehensive in 1995. In 2002 he graduated from Troy University with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.
As of spring 2018, he has taught 23 years (1 in Enterprise City Schools and 22 in Dothan City Schools). Janasky has taught Psychology, Sociology, Government, Economics, Drivers Ed, Physical Education and US History. He currently serves as the Boys' Basketball Coach at Northview High School. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (President) through Xi Beta Chapter (Troy University) and now Rho Upsilon Lambda Chapter-Dothan. He is the founder of the Phyllis O. Fleming Book Scholarship which he and his family have provided a book scholarship to several female student-athletes over the past three years in honor of his late mother who passed away of cancer his senior year of high school. He is also the Vice President of the Wiregrass Panhellenic Council. He is an active member of the Dothan Police Foundation. Janasky also serves as a Mentor at all of the schools in the Dothan City School System. Part of his platform is the educating of our youth through K through 12 as well as job training to prepare our future for THEIR FUTURE!
Another area of focus is the empowerment of the valuable constituents of District 2. Our contribution to our City is often overlooked and many do not connect with the importance of our District as it relates to the growth of Dothan.
Janasky is married to Tamika Fleming, who is the principal of Grandview Elementary School. She is a Troy graduate as well (Undergraduate and Graduate). They have two children (Jaelin-sophomore at Troy University and Jalia-sophomore at Northview High School). They are active members of Patterson St. Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama. He was elected in August of 2017 to the seat of District 2.
