Business License
Acquiring Licenses
This office is responsible for the issuance of business licenses, taxi driver permits, ambulance driver permits, tree cutter permits, solicitation permits, and the collection of liquor, beer and wine taxes. The business license office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Obtaining a City of Dothan Privilege License (Business License)
Any person, firm, or corporation desiring to engage in any business within the corporate limits of the City of Dothan, for which a license is required, shall obtain a business license from the License Division of the City of Dothan.   Please refer to the business license Process Flowchart for more information.

The license year begins on the first day of January and expires on the last day of December each year.

Alcoholic Beverage Applications
Businesses wishing to sell alcoholic beverages, both on and off premises, must apply with the Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) Board by calling (334) 792-9155. The application is then filed with the city clerk and must be approved by the Board of Commissioners before the license can be issued. Whiskey or Liquor Tax Return
The tax levied under the division shall be due and payable in monthly installments on or before the 20th day of the month next succeeding the  month in which the sales are made.  Whiskey or Liquor Tax Return

Declaration of U.S. Citizenship and/or Lawful Presence of an Alien
In order to comply with the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, Act 2011-535, the City of Dothan must obtain from each individual, including an individual who is a sole proprietor or partner in a partnership, both a declaration, either of citizenship or lawful presence, as appropriate, and a demonstration of such status before a business license can be issued or renewed. Immigration-Declaration of Citizenship
