Intersection Improvements at US-84 and John D. Odom Road

Project Update

The City of Dothan and Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) both reviewed the 30% design submitted in December 2023.  The City of Dothan anticipates the 90% design submittal to be complete Spring 2024.

Project Description

Following the US-84 Access Management Plan, this project will expand the recently completed US-84 West Main Street Lane Addition (ATRIP II) project.  This will be an intersection improvement project for the intersection of US-84 and John D. Odom.  This project improves intersection operation, updates traffic signals, and adds pedestrian facilities.

This project is funded by the City of Dothan and the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP-II) grant. This grant is managed by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). The City of Dothan received the maximum available ATRIP-II grant funds in the amount of 2 million dollars and is providing an additional estimated 1.9 million dollars to the project.

Project Timeline

The design is expected to be completed in Spring 2024 with construction beginning in Winter 2024.
