[ARCHIVED] Dothan Fire and Police Departments to Assist with Special Operation Warrior Foundation Fundraiser

The Dothan Fire and Police Departments will be assisting students and officers assigned to the Air Command & Staff College, Maxwell AFB, AL with a fundraiser for the Special Operation Warrior Foundation. The Foundation is raising funds to support families of military special operations personnel which includes scholarships for surviving children, family services and wounded special operations forces support. The students are running and cycling from Maxwell AFB, AL to MacDill AFB, FL (465 miles) in 48 hours to raise money for the foundation. They are running/cycling in three mile relays and there will be 4 relay stops throughout the City of Dothan.

The Dothan Police officers will provide traffic support for each of the nine teams coming through Dothan, while Dothan Firefighters will provide medical and general support for the event. The nine teams will begin arriving in Dothan approximately 7PM on Thursday, March 7 and will rest before beginning at approximately 0400 AM on Friday March 8. The last team is expected to leave
Dothan at approximately 1200 on Friday, March 8.

The route for the event will begin at the City Limits on Montgomery Highway going south. They turn east on Main Street at the Court House and will exit the city limits on Highway 84 east. We are encouraging the public to come out and to support this awesome cause at each of the relay stations throughout Dothan.
