Registration is now open for the residents of Dothan and the surrounding area for the Fourth Annual Economic Summit on Jobs to be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Dothan Civic Center.

With the arrival of Commercial Jet, the 2013 Economic Summit will explore the impact of our growing aviation presence. This year’s speaker, Roger Wehner, has recently assumed the position of Executive Director of the Mobile Airport Authority. Wehner’s current and previous experiences have allowed him to develop an expertise in the aviation industry with a specific expertise in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). Because this is the segment of the aviation industry in which Commercial Jet operates, Wehner will be able to provide a wealth of information regarding the potential for economic development through MRO clusters and how to recruit and maintain supply chain companies to support those clusters.

Other key areas for discussion will include examining the potential impact of the upcoming U.S.-China Manufacturing Symposium, Dothan’s growing medical influence with the opening of the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the establishment of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovative Management at Troy Dothan’s Sorrell College of Business.

This is an exciting time for Dothan and the Economic Summit provides an opportunity for all citizens to be part of the discussions and the development of strategies for future business growth and development. This is a community effort and success is dependent upon participants who are willing to work towards a common goal.

There is no cost to participate and everyone is encouraged to register and be part of this challenging and exciting Summit. Please visit our website at www.economicsummitonjobs.com to register online, view the agenda, or review descriptions of the six focus groups.

The Fourth Annual Economic Summit on Jobs is hosted by the City of Dothan, the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Houston County, and Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business.
