[ARCHIVED] Dothan Listed Among Best Commuter Cities in Alabama

An average 19.7-minute commute time for residents resulted in Dothan’s inclusion on the Obrella 25 Best Commuter Cities in Alabama list. Dothan was rated number 14 on the list. Commute times on the list ranged from 17.2 minutes to 20.2 minutes.

Obrella, which reports on insurance industry news and provides insurance resources, determined the rankings by analyzing traffic data from a 2013 survey released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Alabama cities whose population exceeded 5,000 were considered for the list. Obrella analysts sorted the cities by average commute time and other available data to help visualize the breakdown of commute types and lengths.

According to Obrella, the average Alabama worker commutes 23.9 minutes. The national average is 25.2 minutes. Obrella’s report stated that shorter commutes can help reduce car-related expenses, increase quality of life and minimize stress.
